ARCADIA #1 Comic Review | A World Without Humans… and a Beautiful New Species | Ignition Press

ARCADIA #1 Comic Review | A World Without Humans… and a Beautiful New Species | Ignition Press

In this video, I review ARCADIA from Ignition Press, the stunning new
existential sci-fi comic by writer Roy Miranda, artist Inaki Miranda, colorist Eva De La Cruz, and letterer Dave Sharpe. This debut issue is one of the most visually imaginative and emotionally powerful new comics of the year.

The official premise sets the tone perfectly:
In a future where humanity has vanished, a new form of life rises from the ruins—the Serants, artificial beings born from mysterious technological chrysalises called Superdragons. Each Serant carries a Pearl, a biotechnological core that holds their consciousness, their memories… their soul.

Our protagonist, Halu, is a Serant who emerges late from a forgotten silo, only to be rescued by Weedy, a scavenger obsessed with the remnants of humanity. Soon after, Halu meets Fix, a luminous young mechanic who awakens something deep inside him. The trio journeys through a world of ruins, danger, and mystery, seeking connection, purpose, and the meaning of existence itself.

Arcadia blends gorgeous character designs, innovative world-building, emotional storytelling, and high-concept science fiction. It’s a story about what makes us human… even in a world where humans no longer exist.

In this review, I break down the character designs, the creative team’s world-building, the philosophical themes, and why Arcadia is a must-read comic for fans of deep sci-fi, indie comics, and visually rich storytelling.

Batman vs Green Arrow vs The Question: Arcadia #1 | Comic Review | DC Black Label’s Boldest Thriller

Batman vs Green Arrow vs The Question: Arcadia #1 | Comic Review | DC Black Label’s Boldest Thriller

Batman / Green Arrow / The Question: Arcadia #1 officially launches a new era of DC Black Label storytelling, and in this video I break down everything you need to know. Writer/artist Gabriel Hardman brings a modern, hardboiled twist to the classic DC social thrillers of the 1980s, throwing Batman, Green Arrow, and the Question into a world defined by class warfare, ecological collapse, and political decay.

Official Synopsis:
From the decaying husk of Hub City, Vic Sage, the Question goes deep undercover on the trail of a human-trafficking operation in the frozen Arctic. Oliver Queen, the Green Arrow, pushed out of his own company’s C-suite, must get his crumbling life back together… but what is Queen Industries’ involvement with a mysterious project dubbed Arcadia? Spurred on by the Question, Green Arrow joins the hunt for answers… but one obstacle stands in the way of their investigation: the Batman. Writer/artist Gabriel Hardman comes to DC Black Label with a hardboiled modern twist on the DC social thrillers of the 1980s, updating this opinionated trio of lone-wolf vigilantes for the era of open class warfare and ecological collapse!

In this review, I dig into the sharp character writing, the grounded and gritty artwork, and the ideological clash that fuels the story. Arcadia #1 positions Batman as an obstacle, Green Arrow as a man rebuilding, and the Question as the philosophical engine behind the investigation.

If you’re a fan of DC Black Label, political thrillers, or stories that push superheroes into darker, more realistic territory, this is one you don’t want to miss.
