Where Does the Rainbow End #1 from Mad Cave Studios is a beautiful, haunting sci-fi fairy tale that quietly builds tension beneath its gentle exterior.
In this review, I break down the story of Gilda, a young girl raised by robots in the Rainbow Sector after being abandoned in a massive robot dump. Sheltered from the outside world—and from the dangerous robots of the Dark Cage—Gilda’s peaceful life begins to unravel when her unique ability to fix robots attracts the wrong kind of attention.
Written by Francesca Perillo and illustrated by Stefano Cardoselli, this first issue blends warmth, innocence, and creeping dread, supported by outstanding art and ingenious robot designs. It’s a story about found family, protection, and the cost of kindness in a hostile world.
If you enjoy indie comics, sci-fi with heart, fairy-tale storytelling, or character-driven narratives, this is a must-read.
